   The client meeting room will be released in one minute without a final time. Mina decides to make the call while Jae carries the files.

   The manager moved our review to 3 p.m.

   Then I’ll call the client now.

   Mina suggests three o’clock too directly, and the phone goes quiet. The silence makes the simple question feel much heavier.

   Are you free at 3?

   Um… would 3 p.m. work for you?

   Would 3 p.m. work for you?

   That sounds much better.

   The client warmly accepts the suggestion. Giving the other person room to choose makes the call feel cooperative, not demanding.
